Overview

The Journal of Business, AI and Society (JBAS) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal established to promote rigorous and relevant scholarship on the intersection of business, artificial intelligence, and societal transformation. The journal provides a forum for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to examine how AI technologies influence organizations, markets, institutions, and everyday life.

JBAS recognizes that artificial intelligence is no longer merely a technical tool. It is increasingly embedded in business strategy, managerial decision-making, customer engagement, operational systems, employment structures, public governance, and social norms. Accordingly, the journal adopts a business-centered yet multidisciplinary perspective, encouraging research that combines managerial insight with technological understanding and social relevance.

The Journal of Business, AI and Society (JBAS) aims to publish high-quality scholarly work that advances understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and implications of artificial intelligence in business settings and their wider societal consequences.

JBAS accepts the following manuscript categories:

Research Articles

Full-length original studies presenting theoretical, empirical, or methodological contributions.

Suggested length: 6,000-10,000 words

Review Articles

Critical reviews, systematic literature reviews, and meta-analyses that synthesize knowledge and identify future research directions.

Suggested length: 6,000-12,000 words

Research Notes

Shorter papers reporting novel findings, pilot studies, methodological innovations, or emerging issues.

Suggested length: 3,000-5,000 words

Perspectives and Commentary

Scholarly essays addressing current debates, emerging trends, policy issues, or conceptual reflections relevant to business, AI, and society.

Suggested length: 2,000-4,000 words


AUTHOR GUIDELINES

General submission requirements

Authors should ensure that manuscripts submitted to JBAS:

  • Fall within the aims and scope of the journal
  • Present original work not previously published
  • Are not under consideration by another journal
  • Demonstrate clear theoretical and/or practical contribution
  • Follow ethical standards in research and publication
  • Are written in clear academic English

Manuscript preparation

A typical manuscript should include:

Anonymous review file

The main manuscript file must be anonymized for double-blind review. Remove all identifying information from the manuscript and file properties.

Keywords

Provide 4-6 keywords that best describe the manuscript.

Tables and figures

Language editing

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have manuscripts reviewed for grammar and clarity before submission.

PEER REVIEW POLICY

Review model

JBAS uses a double-blind peer review process. Authors do not know the identity of reviewers, and reviewers do not know the identity of authors.

Initial screening

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess:

Manuscripts may be desk-rejected at this stage if they do not meet minimum standards.

Responsibilities of editors

Responsibilities of reviewers

Plagiarism and originality

JBAS does not tolerate plagiarism in any form. All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism, redundant publication, or unethical overlap may be rejected immediately.

Corrections and retractions

If significant errors or ethical issues are discovered after publication, JBAS may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate.


OPEN ACCESS POLICY

JBAS provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available supports the global exchange of knowledge.

Readers may access, read, download, and share published articles for non-commercial academic use, subject to appropriate attribution and the journal’s copyright policy.

Suggested copyright notice

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant JBAS the right of first publication. Licensing details will be specified by the journal.

Suggested launch option

Use a simple statement first: This journal provides immediate open access to its content.

You may later formalize licensing, for example with a Creative Commons license, once your publication workflow is fully established.

FEES / APC PAGE

Option A: No fee at launch

Article Processing Charges (APCs): None during the inaugural phase.

JBAS currently does not charge submission fees or article processing charges during its launch period.

Option B: If you want a future-ready wording

JBAS reserves the right to revise its publication fee policy in the future. Any such changes will be clearly announced on the journal website before implementation.


COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any copyrighted material included in their manuscripts has been used with appropriate permission.

Upon publication, authors retain copyright and grant the journal the non-exclusive right to publish, archive, and disseminate the work in electronic format.

Specific licensing arrangements will be stated on each published article.


ARCHIVING POLICY

JBAS is committed to preserving the long-term accessibility of its scholarly content. Published articles are archived on the journal website and may also be stored in additional repositories or digital preservation systems as the journal develops.

The names, email addresses, and other personal information entered on this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party except as necessary for normal journal operations
